Prices and costs for Senior Dental Care
Senior Dental Care gives strong cost protection for those 67+. Here we explain what you pay and any exceptions.
10% of reference price – You pay a small part
As a Senior Dental Care patient, you pay 10 percent of the reference price (or our lower price if applicable) for included treatments. The state covers the remaining 90 percent. It is not completely free, but much more affordable.

Here are examples of what common treatments normally cost and what you pay with Senior Dental Care (based on approximate reference prices 2026):

How it works
1. Book appointment
Book as usual. Mention you are 67+ and want to use Senior Dental Care.
2. Get treatment
We verify your entitlement (67+ and included treatment) and perform the treatment.
3. Pay your share
You pay 10% of the reference price (or less if we have a lower price). We invoice the state for the rest.
Exceptions and upgrades
While many treatments become much cheaper, there are exceptions and limits:
Treatments not included
- Cosmetic treatments - Teeth whitening, aesthetic veneers without medical grounds
- Orthodontics - Adult braces normally not included
Upgrades and add-ons
If you choose a more expensive option than medically necessary, you pay the difference. Examples:
- Implant instead of denture - New fixed prosthetics/implants behind tooth position 5 NOT included – if denture is suitable, you pay extra for implants
- Premium materials - Choice of luxury materials beyond standard
Your dentist will always inform you of any costs before treatment starts, so you can make an informed choice. Examinations and preventive care are covered by ATB/STB or regular high-cost protection.

For those under 67
Are you under 67? Then the existing dental subsidy with high-cost protection still applies. Read more on our page about dental support.
When you turn 67 (from the year you turn 67), you automatically get Senior Dental Care entitlement.
