Different ways to pay your dental bill

Need dental care but in a financially strained situation? There is support in the form of financial grants from foundations and trusts. Individuals can contact the organization and apply for a financial grant for dental care.

Foundations and trusts

Below is a selection of foundations, organizations, and trusts that provide grants for healthcare-related issues for vulnerable individuals. If you apply for a grant for dental care, you usually need to attach a cost estimate from your dentist. This means you need to be examined first, and in connection with the examination, you will receive a cost estimate to know the extent of the financial support.

Stockholm City Mission

You can apply for a financial grant from Stockholm City Mission. If you are over 23 years old, you can apply for this grant once a year. If you are a family with children (under 18), you can apply for the grant once a year. If you are a woman over 61, you can apply for the grant once a year. The grant can be used for dental care, convalescent care, or glasses.

FVO Association

FVO Association is a non-profit organization. The investigators who approve financial support consider the applicant's social, economic, and medical situation. If you live in Stockholm, your case is investigated after a personal meeting with an investigator. If you live outside Stockholm, an application form is sent home, which is then returned with supporting documents. FVO provides financial support for dental care that the Swedish Social Insurance Agency categorizes as "necessary".

Gula Anglarna

Gula Anglarna is a non-profit organization in Stockholm city, on Ostermalm. Gula Anglarna helps people in vulnerable situations in society. This can include homeless people or people with strained financial circumstances. Help is provided in the form of advice and financial support, such as money for dental care, glasses, and meal vouchers.

Social Services

The social services in your municipality accept applications for financial assistance. You always have the right to apply for assistance and have it reviewed. If your application is fully or partially denied, you will receive a written explanation of the decision. You have the opportunity to appeal if you are not satisfied. Decisions regarding the size of the grant are based on each individual's life situation. A basic requirement is that you cannot manage the situation on your own despite trying. Contact social services and explain your situation and why you need financial support for dental care.
